Hello. This is Big Hit Entertainment.
The following is an announcement regarding BTS’s “Map of the Soul” tour concert schedule.
The decision has been made to completely reschedule the “Map of the Soul” tour, originally scheduled to begin in April 2020.
With the global proliferation of COVID-19, the tour’s Seoul performances were previously canceled in February with the subsequent postponement of the North American leg of the tour in March. Ticket sales for the European and Japanese performances are imminent.
This tour involves the participation of staff and crew from around the world as well as global logistics systems. While there are certain countries, regions, and cities where conditions have improved, including Korea, it is difficult to make the decision to begin the tour based on these recent developments. Due to the nature of BTS concerts involving travel by thousands of international fans no matter where the performances are held, it is also difficult to resume the tour with the current strict restrictions on cross-border movement still in place. Moreover, it is impossible at this time to predict when the first performance marking the start of the tour will be able to begin.
Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the previously-announced tour schedule and develop a new schedule.
Big Hit Entertainment will completely reschedule the tour and provide a new tour schedule to our fans as soon as it becomes clear when the tour can begin. This may require considerable time as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve. However, we will work to ensure that BTS and their fans will be able to meet each other as soon as they can. We will also create new ways for our artists to engage with their fans and respond to the “New normal” while we wait to resume activities halted by COVID-19.
According to this document, in 2019, Big Hit accumulated 587.2 billion won (approximately $483.3 million) in revenue and 98.7 billion won (approximately $81.2 million) in sales profit. This marks their greatest performance since the establishment of the agency. Compared to 2018, these numbers show a 95 percent and 24 percent increase in revenue and sales, respectively.
To start off 2019, Big Hit sold 3.7 million copies of BTS’s “Map of the Soul: Persona” (according to Gaon Chart’s 2019 records). Later in the year, TXT made their long-anticipated debut, bringing Big Hit’s album sale total to more than 6 million. In July 2019, Big Hit also acquired Source Music, which manages GFRIEND.

We would like to provide you with an update of the preparations for “BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR”.
We are closely monitoring the situations in the countries and cities that are part of our upcoming tour. With the global spread of COVID-19, in some countries and cities, the level of unpredictability is becoming higher to prepare for the shows. As a result of the current global circumstances, we anticipate having to make changes to the current tour schedule.
Any cancellations or rescheduling will be based on a policy of full cooperation with the guidance and directives of national and local governments and concert venues to ensure the health and safety of everyone. We are making every effort to proceed with the planned performances where possible, however, details on any changes will be provided separately for each region.
We are also developing plans to secure dates and venues to hold BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR – SEOUL Concerts when the situation stabilizes. We ask for your understanding as we continue to strive to deliver a new and better-than-ever experience for the BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR to all of our fans who have undoubtedly been disappointed by recent cancellations.
We will place the highest priority on the health and safety of our artists and fans and do our utmost to keep the promises we made to our fans. Once again, we fully appreciate the generous understanding and support from all of our fans looking forward to the BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR.
