Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Shi Hyuk has been included on Billboard’s 2020 list of “Power Players of the Year”!
On January 23 local time, Billboard released this year’s list of the industry’s most powerful figures, recognizing those who went above and beyond their job descriptions to “elevate the entire music business.”
In his third consecutive year on the list, Bang Shi Hyuk was included under the “management” sector. The Big Hit founder was lauded not only for BTS’s global success but also for his steps to diversify Big Hit Entertainment, such as TXT’s debut, the acquisition of Source Music, and the launch of the mobile game BTS WORLD.

BTS is officially the first Korean artist to go platinum with an album in the United States!
BTS’s “Black Swan” is sweeping charts across the globe!
On January 17 at 6 p.m. KST, BTS dropped their new song “Black Swan,” a pre-release track from their highly-anticipated upcoming album “Map of the Soul: 7.” Just a few hours later, the song rose to the top of both domestic realtime music charts and iTunes charts in numerous countries around the world.
As of 9 a.m. KST on January 18, “Black Swan” had hit No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 93 different regions—their highest number to date—including the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, India, Russia, and more.

Just one week after opening pre-orders for “Map of the Soul: 7,” BTS has already broken their record for stock pre-orders!
BTS’s “The Best of BTS: Korea Edition” earned gold certification in Japan!
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its certifications for the month of December, and their albums reached gold status in Japan. Albums go gold in Japan when they reach 100,000 units shipped.
“The Best of BTS: Korea Edition” is a Japanese compilation album with Korean versions of BTS’s songs, and it was released on January 6, 2017.

Younha talked about how she ended up collaborating on her new track “Winter Flower” with BTS’s RM!
The song is a b-side on Younha’s new mini album “Unstable Mindset,” which came out on January 6. RM both features on the track and also took part in writing the lyrics for it. He is known to be a huge fan of Younha and often recommends her music on BTS’s Twitter.
On January 6, Younha shared, “RM and I have said for years that it would be great if we could collaborate.”

Kyungnam Pharm’s vitamin brand Lemona has revealed that they have signed a brand model contract with BTS.
On October 7, Lemona revealed their plans to expand to a wider global market through their marketing work with BTS.
Director Lim Do Hyung, who is in charge of the brand model deal, stated, “We will do our best to pursue a variety of promotions and produce advertisements with BTS,” and “Through our contract with them, we will actively expand to overseas markets and make Lemona a top global vitamin brand.”
